POWA Motorsports Event 9 - Collie Exclusive - Tuesday 15 September 2026

Welcome to our ninth POWA Motorsport exclusive event in our 2026 series.

The Collie Motorplex Long Track has been hired for a limited number of participants (20 max.) for our exclusive use.  Track time starts at 9:00 am and finishes 1:00 pm followed by lunch at the track. 

When: Tuesday 15 September 2026.

The day commences at 8:30am sharp with a driver's briefing.  I suggest you plan to arrive at the track around 8am.

Drivers/vehicles will be grouped based on lap times with a maximum of 4 drivers per group.

Registrations are essential and numbers are strictly capped at 20.

The event entry cost is a bargain at $220 including lunch. 

Why not come down on Monday and enjoy a social evening and dinner at the Collie Ridge Motel (at your own cost) to avoid an early drive down on Tuesday.

Questions & Answers

Do I need a special license for this event, and can I get one in time?

A Motorsports Australia Speed License is required at a minimum for this event and this can be easily obtained here.

You can definitely get one in time! You just need to complete the appropriate form (linked above), pay the fee to Motorsports Australia and, congratulations, you are now licensed. There is no driving test!

The specific requirements for vehicles and drivers are defined by Motorsport Australia and are available here. It is important that each driver understands these requirements.

Are track events good for my car?

Porsches were built to track. If you are in any doubt, just remember that a Porsche warranty covers the car for track usage, and the brand is so confident in their engineering that you can extend your vehicle warranty for up to 15 years!

Can I just participate in a few events, or do I have to register for the whole year?

Yes, you can just take part in one event or a few events if you like. As individual events are announced over the year, just pick and choose the ones that you’d like to register for.

Why are the POWA exclusive events on weekdays?

Both Wanneroo and Collie are extremely busy tracks on weekends and the cost of weekend track hire is prohibitive for small groups. We have spread the exclusive events across the year, so I’m sure your employer/business can accommodate a few mental health days off work!

What’s the POWA Motorsports Competition about?

The POWAMS Competition commenced in 2023 and was designed to rank the most improved and most consistent drivers across the year. To win a prize you don’t need to have the fastest car or start the year as a high-performing driver, so everyone is in there with a real chance to win. Want to know more? I’m interested but nervous…..

It’s absolutely normal for all participants to start off being unsure and nervous about their first (maybe even second, third, fourth……) track event. To assist you with getting prepared for an event (including help with paperwork/registration) and participating in an event, we can partner you with an experienced POWAMS veteran. They can help you every step along the way to make sure you have a fabulous track experience. Just ask Daniel Bathe, David Blainey or Joe Gauci and we’ll arrange it for you!

What else do I need to participate?

1. Make sure your car is in good working order. If it’s regularly serviced, it should be but if you are in any doubt, get it serviced before you participate in any club events.

2. You’ll need a helmet that complies with Australian Standards (AS/NZS1698 or ECE22.05). These are available at a number of motorsport shops including Go Gear in Mt Hawthorn (www.gogear.com.au) and Revolution Race Gear in Cannington (www.revolutionracegear.com.au). Pricing starts at approx. $150.

3. Whilst buying your helmet, it’s also worthwhile picking up some race stickers from the same shop. You’ll need a Blue Triangle sticker to attach to your car to show where the battery is located (and ideally a Red Triangle to show where your tow hook is). Failing this, you could also use the right coloured tape and make your own triangle.

4. Another thing that you will need is a suitable fire extinguisher, ….this needs to be securely mounted to your car. The right fire extinguisher can also be purchased at Go Gear or Revolution Race Gear, but you will also need a mount to suit your car. There are several mount options available online (here’s one….. https://www.autoinstruct.com.au/product/kap-industries-fire-extinguisher-bracket-porsche/ ) but if in any doubt, speak to Peter at Purely Porscha, Porsche Centre Perth or Brendan at KTec to ensure you get the right one and for installation if required.  The extinguisher needs to be less than 3 years old - the all have the date of manufacture stamped on them.

5. Finally, you will need to be wearing the right gear. In addition to your helmet, you’ll need to be wearing a long sleeve cotton top, cotton pants (jeans are fine) and enclosed shoes. If you want to really look the part, Go Gear or Revolution Race Gear can also supply full race suits, shoes, gloves etc.

Entry and payment is through the powaclub.au site or MJ app.

If you haven't yet experienced Collie, then you need to.  Don't leave it on your bucket list.

Recommend booking accommodation for Monday night as a minimum and maybe Tuesday night if you want to stay another night and tell tall stories about your day.  We've been staying at the Collie Ridge Resort for many years and you should ask for the Porsche Club discount for the accommodation.
